One
of the great tools you'll want to use for researching traffic and
sites is Alexa. It's a toolbar that fits in your browser and gives
you information on the sites you are visiting. Download
it here. Be sure you read and understand the terms of use. This
is a powerful tool for Internet research, but it does have its trade-offs.
Alexa ranks traffic, based on the sites other Alexa users visit;
thus it has a bias toward Internet money-making sites. With more
than 16 million websites shown in Alexa, a site with a ranking of
at least 1,000,000 is in the top 6% of the most trafficked sites.
Site at the 300,000 ranking are in the top 2%. This site is currently
at 150,000 - so it's in the top 1% of sites with the most traffic.
